The Big Drive

Cincinnati - Los Angeles

After college, I drove from Cincinnati to Los Angeles when I received the opportunity to work in the film industry and attend UCLA.

Then life took a lengthy detour when I was diagnosed with brain cancer.  I had to move for better medical care to Boston, including endless chemo and therapy.  It took me five years to recover from the stem cell transplant, while battling depression and $1.3 million price tag.  During chemotherapy for two years, my taste buds were severely affected.  So this blog will be food forward!

I decided that I need to recreate that drive again. A bit slower this time with more frequent stops. It’s really a necessity to have that hope, optimism, and carefree attitude I experienced during my first drive more than 20 years ago.

You can support my journey!

Thank you to those who do!

I was a photographer before cancer. Then it became much-needed therapy.

Purchasing my work helps finance my journey.

While saving up and building stamina for My Big Drive, I will be taking shorter excursions. I am still going through the aftermath of cancer, including taking some hardcore prescription drugs, dealing with memory loss, and language issues.  I’m currently living in Columbus, Ohio, to be near my daughter.

Those Midwest trips will be posted on Substack.

And you may ask yourself,

"Well, how did I get here?"
